Day Twelve and Day Thirteen

Day Twelve

We made astrocops today. For those of you who have no idea of what I am talking about, you’ll understand a bit more when the album is released. But until then, the song is about a young man named Chase who suffers from paranoia. Dave and I had a blast. Only a fraction of what we recorded will be used but it was well worth the time. How we made them is a secret recipe. I must say, I was a little unsettled driving home due to the creepy session. Monday we reconvene with Justin to try on Don’t Give In for size.

Day Thirteen

Tonight I met Brody(ie) for the first time. He is a cool (and really nice) guy who is helping out at the studio over the next little while. If was so neat when Justin an I showed up. The room was set up so that each of us (myself, Justin and Dave) had our own little area. After we made tea, tuned and got some happening headphone mixes we rocked out Don’t Give In. It has been a long time since I have played my tunes with a bass player AND a drummer. It felt wicked especially considering it was the first time any of us had played with one another. The vibe we set out for was a three or four in the morning sleepy haze. The guitar part is really loose and as Justin described it, feels as though you are tripping through it. After an hour of takes my fingers started to get tired and therefore my parts got sloppy (and not a good sloppy). Everyone else was beat to, so we called it a night feeling like we got some decent sketches down. I am thrilled with the drum part Dave came up with and Justin’s bass part is great as per usual. On the car ride home, Justin and I shared a slice of Dave or Brody’s pizza. (yay pizza; boo morning stomach ache due to pizza)
